251 Given name was Maria Anna Hirsch on her childrens baptismal records at St. James in Millstadt Illinois: John (14 Dec 1864) and Henry (30 Dec 1866).

Hirsch, Maria Helene (I371)

252 Godparents:Godparents are: Joannes Josephus (Johann Joseph) Müller from Kalter-Reiferscheidt, and Anna Maria Hermes from Gilgenbach.

Note: St. Magdalena Catholic Chapel is very small and not always in use. When we visited in 2024, the building was not opened so we could only view from the outside.
FamilySearch record (doesn't show image) says baptism and marriage took place in Dümpelfeld (about 1 mile down the road), but this is not correct per Johann Joseph's birth and baptism record.
Theisen, Johann Joseph (I55)

253 Grandma Ruth had a good friend named Betty. From mom (Susan Theisen) "Betty was my mom's friend. They met through girl scouts. She became interested in Judy's dogs . Betty and her husband had a motor home and traveled around the country in it after he retired. They sometimes spent time at Judy's in Lancaster and I think went to some dog shows too. Betty's last name was muellner"

More from mom via email about Betty "Betty was a war bride. Cliff was stationed in England during well [sic]. So she had her family here."

Grandma Ruth and Betty were girl scouts together and went to Sunnyview Day Camp. Betty's day camp moniker was "Dagwood."
More from mom, via email, about Sunnyview day camp:
"Sunnyview day camp was in Hanson Park in Wauwatosa Wisconsin. The park had a 9 hoke [sic] chip and put golf course and a public pool host park pool. I swam there and golfers [sic] there. The camp was at the other end and had a wooded area that several campsites was in. The equipment house for park equipment over the winter was the unit house for the day camp. Can't
[sic] iron cooking pots for units cooking lunch could be checked out for the day etc. We had a flag ceremony mornings and at the end of the day at the flag pole by the unit house. There were 3 two week sessions every summer."
"I remember someone's camp name Kettles but only from camp. So not someone she knew from anywhere else."

Mom (Susan Theisen) emails me back about a picture I inquired about with everyone holding a beer, grandma Ruth was holding 2!
"Louisa and Mile Lead. They had a small farm (maybe ten acres i think) not far from milwaukee. we took many sunday drives to their farm. There are pictures of Judy and myself and then some with Lynne too. We loved going to their farm .They had chickens, geese. ducks, pigs. Maybe a cow but I don't remember. The best part was Mrs Lead would throw back a rug in the house and open a trap door to a root cellar. She came up with sausages, canned items etc. for lunch. Judy and I were fascinated where she kept food. I think my grandpa knew mike lead from the RR"

Grandma had a 1963 AMC Rambler Classic 550 sedan, the most basic model at $2,105. This is the car that Judy and Leonard drove off in after they got married.
Wilson, Ruth Marie (I42)

254 Grandpa Art was named after his uncle Arthur Reinhold Rohleder, according to mom (Susan Theisen).

At the time of daughter Judy's wedding, grandpa Art was driving a 1957 Pontiac, as seen in a photo after the wedding.
Rohleder, Arthur Karl (I43)

256 Grietje Gerrits, daughter of Gerrit Lubbertsen and Geertruy Willems

for whom she was named. In later years she was sometimes recorded with the full form of her name, Margrietje or Margrita. She first appears on record
3 June 1693, when the Flatbush Dutch Church register shows the betrothal
of “Jan Hardenbergh, young man, and Grietie Gerrets, young dame, both
residing at Jameca” (Flat. Fr. Marrs. 1:40); no marriage date was recorded.

Cranow (in English) is most likely Granow. Several online trees and sites list Neumark Brandenburg as her place of birth. There are lots of Neumark's in Germany, so Granow is the most likely.

278 His baptismal record gave his name as Fr. Michel.

Fr. could stand for Franz or Friedrich.

Since his father, and grandfather's names were Franz, it's more likely his baptismal first name was Franz.

The German name Franz, in English, is Francis.

The German name Freidrich, in English, is Frederick.

"No. 91
In the year 1835, on the 9th of December, at 5 o’clock in the morning, was born in Ötigheim: a little son of Franz Anton Wittmann, tailor, and Maria Eva neé Kuhn, a legitimately married couple. The child was baptized the same day and was given the name Fr. Michel. Godfather was Fr. Michel Speck, woodcutter. Witnesses to the baptism were Johann Wendlin Kelmel and Joseph Kühn, both citizens here. – Joannes Koch, priest"
Wittmann, Franz Michel (I370)

282 His railroad co-workers called him "Pete." Unknown why they choose that nickname for him.

Walter, Ann and family liked to spend summer days at Kelly Lake, Wisconsin. It's about 15 miles north of Oconto Falls where Ann's Wittmann family lived.
Wilson, Walter Edward (I363)

283 His SS-5 application states he was born in Green Bay on May 3rd.

From the Green Bay Diocese:
"Regarding the baptism of Lloyd Wittmann in 1902, he was not baptized at St. Anthony Church (Oconto Falls, Wisc.), Holy Cross Church (Kaukauna, Wisc.), St. Joseph Church (Oconto, Wisc.), St. John the Baptist Church (Green Bay [Howard]), St. Edward and Isidore (Flintville) or St. Peter Church (Oconto, Wisc.). Is it possible that he was born in a Green Bay hospital and baptized there (that is, if he were very sickly, he might have had an emergency baptism in the hospital)"

From the Milwaukee Archdiocese:
"All of the parishes that were in Fond du Lac in 1902 were searched: St. Joseph, St. Louis, St. Mary, and St. Patrick. The records were searched from 1902-1905, but no baptismal record for Lloyd Wittmann was found at any of the parishes. "
