  	Age 95, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Heritage. He was born in Porterfield, Wis., on Oct. 5, 1919, the son of Frank and Mary (Bernardy) Theisen. He married on May 1, 1947, in Dane, Wis., at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Vernon served in World War II in Patton's Army and was part of the contingent that liberated Dachau Concentration Camp. He was assigned to the 284th Field Artillery Battalion and earned commendations for fire support given to a Ranger Battalion who would have otherwise been completely wiped out. Vern was employed as a supervisor at Gisholt Machine Co., Giddings and Lewis and Oscar Mayer for 44 years. He retired in 1984. They have enjoyed traveling, spending time with the grandchildren traveling to their cottage, fishing and making "maple syrup" every spring. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church for 65 years, a mass server, served on the parish council and the choir. Vernon was involved with the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary Rosary Campaign and was a Knights of Columbus member.
