• Notes

  Grietje Gerrits, daughter of Gerrit Lubbertsen and Geertruy Willems Van Boerum, was probably born at Flatbush around 1673; it is not known for whom she was named. In later years she was sometimes recorded with the full form of her name, Margrietje or Margrita. She first appears on record 3 June 1693, when the Flatbush Dutch Church register shows the betrothal of “Jan Hardenbergh, young man, and Grietie Gerrets, young dame, both residing at Jameca” (Flat. Fr. Marrs. 1:40); no marriage date was recorded. Children with Jan Hartenberg 1.
